About T2K Experiment
The T2K Experiment is a world-leading neutrino research initiative that seeks to unravel the mysteries of neutrino oscillations—how these elusive particles change types as they travel. Situated at the J-PARC facility on Japan's east coast, T2K generates a powerful beam of muon neutrinos aimed at the Super-Kamiokande detector in the west. Key to its mission, T2K utilizes two detectors: the near detector ND280 for initial measurements and the Super-Kamiokande for final observations, allowing researchers to analyze changes in the neutrino beam's intensity and composition.
T2K's scientific objectives include the search for CP violation in the neutrino sector, the verification of specific oscillation parameters, and the exploration of sterile neutrino components. The collaboration consists of leading physicists, actively contributing to advancements in the field, with notable recognitions, such as prestigious awards for key members. By pushing the boundaries of particle physics, the T2K Experiment plays a critical role in enhancing our understanding of the fundamental forces shaping the universe.
