Taaben Farmi

Taaben Farmi is a family-friendly animal farm in Sastamala, in Finland’s Pirkanmaa region, about 40 minutes from Tampere. Created from a love of animals, old houses and rural life, the farm began as an idea in a ten-year-old girl’s mind and remained part of the family’s plans for three decades. Today, it is home to around 100 animals representing approximately 20 species.

Visitors can meet large and small animals up close, pet them and, where appropriate, offer rabbits dandelion leaves. The farm’s residents include furry animals, birds and seasonal “unusual creatures.” In summer, when the weather is warm, the unusual-creature barn may host cockroaches, ghost mantises and stick insects; on particularly warm days, a tortoise can enjoy time outdoors. Guests can also relax on a swing and watch turkeys and chickens.

A kiosk sells Isontuvan ice cream, snacks and drinks. Visitors are welcome to bring their own food, and a gas grill is available for shared use. Taaben Farmi is located at Ritvaniementie 7, Sastamala.
