Azienda Agricola Giancarlo Guzzo is a family-run agricultural business in Albaredo d’Adige, in the Veneto countryside, about 30 kilometres south of Verona. For around 50 years, the farm has specialized in growing Kentucky tobacco, the variety used to make the renowned Italian Toscano cigar. Its history began in the 1960s with a small, approximately four-hectare operation managed by Giancarlo Guzzo’s father.
After the farm passed from father to son, cultivation expanded to 22 hectares by 2005. The company focuses on producing carefully worked tobacco leaves for cigar making, using strict processing standards and traditional, hands-on methods passed down through the family. Attention to detail helps preserve the leaves and avoid holes or imperfections.
The farm’s location is considered well suited to Kentucky tobacco because of its climate and soil. Alongside cultivation, the business has received recognition for its efforts to promote understanding of Kentucky tobacco and its importance to Toscano cigar production. The company also provides information about its history and operations through its website
