Associação de Tabuleiro de Cores is a nonprofit youth association based in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, dedicated to making chess accessible through schools and community activities. It describes itself as the country’s most extensive chess club and a Grade 1 chess training club, registered with the Portuguese Chess Federation.

Working with public and private school groups, the association supports chess projects approved by the pedagogical councils of the city’s three public school groups. Its programmes include introductory chess training for preschool pupils, daily free after-school sessions, and preparation for district and national competitions. The organisation also trains local chess monitors and helps deliver school championships. Its reported reach includes activities at 70 locations, 400 official chessboards, and participation by thousands of sports users and students.

The association is supported by a broad network of local and regional promoters, including schools, cultural and community organisations, businesses, and public bodies. Its work combines instruction, competition, and recreational play, encouraging young people to think strategically and take part in chess both in and beyond the classroom.
