Traditional Taekwon

Traditional Taekwon-Do Kwan, established in Portland in 1993 by 7th Dan Master Gil Johnson, is one of the city's oldest and most esteemed martial arts schools. With his extensive experience in taekwon-do since 1983 and expertise in other disciplines like karate, jujitsu, hapkido, and aikido, Master Johnson has successfully guided nearly 150 students to black belt proficiency. His dedication to teaching is evidenced by his belief that the achievements of his students outweigh his own, despite being a former tournament grand champion.

The school offers classes tailored for kids and adults, encompassing beginners as well as advanced practitioners. Master Johnson's commitment to community service is highlighted by his involvement with local organizations focused on bringing martial arts to children in need. Currently, he is working on a memoir and an instructional manual on taekwon-do forms, continuing to inspire future generations. Traditional Taekwon-Do Kwan not only underscores physical fitness but also promotes personal discipline and growth, making it a valuable asset to the Portland community.
