About TahoeNordicSAR
Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue (TNSAR) is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to conducting emergency search and rescue operations in the rugged Sierra Nevada range. Founded in 1976 after a tragic incident, we prioritize fast and safe rescues while educating the public on winter safety. Our diverse team includes EMTs, doctors, nurses, and skilled backcountry enthusiasts who provide wilderness first aid and rescue training.
With a remarkable success rate, we have located lost hikers, skiers, snowboarders, and avalanche victims in challenging conditions. Equipped with a specially outfitted Ford truck, Snocats, and other essential gear, we collaborate closely with local agencies and support organizations. TNSAR is committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity, welcoming individuals of all backgrounds to join our mission.
