TaiCOL

The Catalogue of Life in Taiwan (TaiCOL) serves as a vital database that compiles and integrates taxonomic information pertaining to Taiwan's biodiversity. Established originally as the Taiwan Biodiversity National Information Network (TaiBNET), TaiCOL was developed in response to international commitments to promote biodiversity protection and sustainable use. Since its inception in 2003, TaiCOL has been supported by various governmental bodies, and it aims to provide the most accurate and up-to-date species nomenclature for conservation efforts.

TaiCOL offers a comprehensive species checklist, which is crucial for biodiversity conservation initiatives that rely on accurate species data for resource monitoring and policy formulation. The platform features tools such as scientific name comparison, name management, and API access, facilitating collaboration among researchers and biodiversity databases. By continuously updating its catalog through expert input and user feedback, TaiCOL ensures that government, researchers, and the public have access to the latest species data, thereby enhancing species conservation efforts in Taiwan.
