About TaikaBox
Taikabox is a unique and innovative brand that was established in Cardiff, Wales in 2010 by choreographer Tanja Råman and video artist John Collingswood. With a passion for creating new ways to experience dance, they decided to formalize their collaboration into an organization. In 2015, they relocated to Finland and formed TaikaBox as an association.
Over the years, TaikaBox has expanded its team, including Elena Vlasenko, a journalist, who became an integral part of the organization. They acquired their first studio on the island of Pikisaari in 2020 and launched the Taidepaja, a community art space, in an empty shop in Oulunsalo in 2021. With the addition of Pasi Pirttiaho as the communications manager in 2023, TaikaBox continues to evolve and push boundaries.
Their latest venture involves transforming an old fisherman's shed in Varjakka harbor into a community art space. Led by Tanja Råman, a producer, choreographer, dancer, teacher, and therapist, TaikaBox believes that dance is a powerful means of understanding and connecting with others. They explore the complexities of human existence through movement and choreography.
