The Al’Kabor Project is a community-run EverQuest emulation project that recreates the original Macintosh Al’Kabor server experience. It offers Planes of Power-era gameplay on macOS, Windows, and Linux, with content available through that expansion. The project aims to preserve the original game’s character by using the client from the era being emulated and carefully recreating its mechanics and non-player character statistics. Its approach avoids instances, maps, gear-granting features, and an in-game store, emphasizing a classic style of play.

Players can control up to three characters at once, with a separate fourth account permitted for merchant use. Content is rotated by the community to discourage monopolization and reduce competition over encounters, supporting a more relaxed raiding environment. The team includes contributors working on code, quests, content, quality control, web services, and administration.
