Taman Tugu is a not-for-profit corporate social responsibility initiative led by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, supported by public sector agencies and civil-society organizations. Initially proposed as a for-profit theme park, the 66-acre site was transformed into a public park to conserve its secondary forest. Partnering with the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia, over 1,000 trees, including endangered species, were preserved, while 5,000 young trees were added to enhance biodiversity.

The site's history, from British palm oil plantations to Malaysian government quarters, is preserved, with Madrasah and Hindu shrines maintained. Taman Tugu aims to maintain its current residents while creating a public green space managed by the Amanah Warisan Negara. With a vision inspired by the UK's National Trust, Taman Tugu embodies a commitment to preserving Malaysia's heritage and natural beauty for future generations
