Tampereen Kuuloyhdistys

Tampereen Kuuloyhdistys ry is a local association affiliated with Kuuloliitto ry, serving people with hearing disabilities, particularly those who are hard of hearing or have become deaf, and their families. Founded in 1936, the association has around 430 members. Its main purpose is to raise awareness of hearing disabilities and reduce the difficulties they can cause, while supporting members’ participation, cooperation and access to services.

The association offers information, peer activities and practical guidance through events and meeting groups held at its Tampere premises. Activities include gatherings for cochlear implant users and people considering an implant, craft sessions, social evenings, and annual meetings. Significantly, its free hearing support service is open to all people with hearing disabilities and their close ones. Trained volunteers advise on hearing aids and assistive devices, provide guidance on hearing care and available services, clean hearing-aid earmolds, and replace tubing. Support points operate at the association’s premises and at locations including Peurankallio and Tesoma.
