Family Tree Maker, developed by Ancestry.com, is a leading genealogy software that provides users with robust tools for building and managing family trees. The 2014 version, officially known as Family Tree Maker 22, marks the sixth major release of what is referred to as the "New Family Tree Maker." This version introduces significant features, including support for 64-bit systems, which allows for enhanced performance and stability by utilizing more RAM. Users will also encounter a new database format, requiring conversions from earlier versions, ensuring improved functionality.

While Family Tree Maker aims to streamline the genealogical research process, some aspects, like its GEDCOM export feature, have faced criticism for unresolved issues. Despite these shortcomings, Family Tree Maker 2014 continues to be a comprehensive platform for those passionate about genealogy, offering tools for record management, easy tree sharing, and detailed ancestor documentation. With a user-friendly interface and ongoing updates, Family Tree Maker remains an essential resource for anyone exploring their family history.
