Tao Centre is a community gym and martial arts training centre in Hockley, central Birmingham, serving people of all ages since 1996. Its philosophy combines traditional Shaolin kung fu roots with coached strength, discipline and performance training, welcoming beginners, athletes and martial artists alike. The facility is open seven days a week and features Keiser power equipment, free weights, a boxing ring, free parking, showers and a supplement shop.
Members can choose gym access through day passes, monthly or annual options, or join coached classes. Activities include boxing, Southern Steel Wire Mantis kung fu, kids’ kung fu, women-only fitness, gym circuit training and dance fitness. Personal training and nutrition services are also available, with development tailored to individual needs and goals. Tao Centre additionally offers recovery and hijama services.
Through Tao Academy, the centre provides Ofqual-regulated Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer courses, with online study and practical training at the Birmingham gym or a learner’s own facility.
