Tapes.fans is a community-built database and collection tool for analog tape collectors and enthusiasts. Its catalog brings together detailed information about audio and video media from different eras and countries, including compact cassettes, VHS, VHS-C, and Video8, Hi8, and Digital8 tapes. Records can include brand, format, tape type, length, year, and region, helping users distinguish variants and research uncommon releases.

Members can build and manage personal cassette collections, track what they are missing, and use advanced search filters and specific parameters to find tapes. The site also helps connect collectors looking for particular items with sellers who have listed offers; it facilitates communication, while transactions take place on users’ preferred platforms. The directory is maintained by volunteers, and users can contribute by adding records or correcting catalog information. This community-led approach supports a growing reference resource and improves the chances of discovering rare tapes. Tapes.fans also features collector and editor listings, updates to the catalog, support options, and branded merchandise, including its “God Save the Tape” design.
