About Technology & Action for Rural Advancement
TARA is a social enterprise of the Development Alternatives Group, established in New Delhi, India in 1985. With a vision to create sustainable livelihoods on a large scale, TARA develops and promotes scalable solutions for people and the planet. Acting as an 'incubation engine', TARA focuses on impact in areas such as Employability, Entrepreneurship, Clean Technology, Basic Needs, Natural Resource Management, and Institutional Strengthening.
Through a combination of projects and revenue-based activities, TARA offers replicable enterprise-based business models, community development packages, and capacity building solutions in sectors such as Renewable Energy, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Affordable Housing, Livelihood Support, and Recycling. TARA's scalable business models have been incubated in the Bundelkhand region of Central India, with a presence in other parts of central and northern India as well.
