Fondation Tara Océan is the first public utility foundation dedicated to the Ocean in France. Their mission is twofold: to explore the Ocean in order to better understand it, and to share scientific knowledge about the Ocean to create collective citizen awareness. For the past 20 years, they have supported innovative Ocean science in partnership with excellent research laboratories to study marine biodiversity, observe and anticipate the impacts of climate change and pollution.
With the pressing need to protect the Ocean as a common responsibility, Fondation Tara Océan raises awareness among citizens, educates the younger generations, facilitates international cooperation, and mobilizes policymakers. As a Special Observer at the UN, Fondation Tara Océan actively participates in important decisions concerning the Ocean. Through their expeditions, research, education, and advocacy, they contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in preserving aquatic life and promoting sustainable development.
