Tara Theatre is a London theatre and charity that explores the world through a South Asian lens. Based in Wandsworth, it creates innovative, politically charged work that connects local communities with wider global conversations. Its mission includes promoting social change and inclusion, challenging the lack of diversity and representation in the UK theatre industry, and working towards a more equal and equitable world.
With a pioneering history spanning more than four decades, Tara Theatre has nurtured and supported South Asian performers, writers, directors, musicians and choreographers. Its programme includes theatre, comedy and new writing, alongside a South Asian Play Reading Group featuring contemporary plays and stories. Audiences can attend performances and events, while artists and theatre-makers are supported through the organisation’s creative work.
Tara Theatre also offers venue hire at its award-winning, contemporary building near Earlsfield station. The adaptable space combines modern technical facilities with thoughtful design and can host performances and other events.
