– Tarkvanem

Tarkvanem is an Estonian parenting information and support platform operated by the Social Insurance Board (Sotsiaalkindlustusamet). It helps parents and caregivers understand children’s needs and build supportive relationships through practical, expert-informed resources. The site covers topics including child development, parent wellbeing, relationships, mental health, digital life, exercise, nutrition, sexual education, alcohol and other substances, safety, and foster parenting.

Visitors can explore videos, worksheets, tests, training courses, and guidance for different stages of a child’s development. Interactive materials invite parents to reflect on their approach, including a test about parenting styles and a questionnaire on suitability for foster parenting. Tarkvanem also publishes expert answers to questions from parents, addressing everyday concerns such as children’s eating habits, vaping, and behaviour in childcare settings. News and information about family support and child welfare are featured alongside links to related Estonian health and wellbeing resources. By bringing learning materials, professional advice, and practical tools together, Tarkvanem aims to help adults make informed choices and support children’s wellbeing as they grow.
