Tärnan

Fågelföreningen Tärnan is a birdwatching association serving Nyköping, Oxelösund, Trosa and Gnesta in Sweden. It brings together people interested in birds and nature through local activities, information and conservation projects. Members and visitors can take part in guided excursions to nearby birding sites, attend indoor meetings and follow seasonal programmes arranged by the association’s programme group. The website also provides information about the organisation, its board, membership and annual publications, alongside reports, photographs, videos and records of birding events.

Tärnan supports practical projects and habitat-focused work, including nest-box initiatives and conservation efforts for species such as the Caspian tern. It shares details about local bird sites and directs users to a regional guide covering locations across several municipalities in Södermanland. Birders can also connect through the BAND communication app and access links to birding resources, weather information and species records. The association offers guidance on what to do when injured birds are found, including contact information for local representatives. Membership is available at different fee levels, including a youth option.
