Tarnia Kittel Art

Tarnia Kittel Fine Art is the practice of Australian realism artist Tarnia Kittel, based in rural south-east Queensland. Specialising in lifelike equine, wildlife and other animal portraits, Kittel combines careful attention to anatomy and likeness with a sensitive focus on each subject’s character and vulnerability. Her background in biomedical and environmental science, along with years in competitive equestrian life, informs her understanding of animals and the natural world. The aim is to create work that feels like an encounter with the subject, celebrating nature’s solace and the beauty often overlooked.

The brand offers original artworks and limited-edition giclée prints, produced with archival, museum-quality materials. Clients can also commission a personal portrait through a collaborative process that explores the composition and meaning of the finished piece. For artists, Kittel teaches pastel workshops in the fundamentals of realistic animal portraiture, welcoming beginners as well as more experienced creatives. Online tutorials are described as forthcoming.
