About Tartu 2024
Tartu 2024 - European Capital of Culture, in partnership with Acento, has developed an innovative environmental strategy to place its environmental activities within the global and European context. This strategy focuses on identifying the most crucial environmental aspects in Estonia, using Tartu and Southern Estonia as examples. Tartu 2024 recognizes the significance of leaving a positive environmental impact and has actively involved the Tartu City Government's Culture Department, the Environment Department, the Tartu County Development Association, and cultural managers in drafting the strategy.
They have already taken steps towards this goal by organizing the Car-Free Avenue event, adhering to the Guidelines for Organising Environmentally Friendly Events. Tartu 2024 aims to achieve four major goals by 2025, including the creation of an inventory pool for cultural management, the promotion of environmentally friendly food and waste management at events, and the implementation of more sustainable energy and transportation solutions.
