Tau Autonomy Center (TAC) is a pioneering facility established in early 2020 to address the growing demand for specialized testing and training environments for autonomous vehicles, including both aerial drones and subsea technologies. Located in Tau Næringspark, TAC provides exceptional subsea conditions ideal for the testing and qualification of remotely controlled technologies. Owned by seven local industry entities and the innovation-focused Greater Stavanger, TAC is committed to fostering advancements in drone technology.

The center is home to various companies engaged in developing cutting-edge drone applications, bolstered by collaborative efforts from established players like Oceaneering and National Oilwell Varco Seabox, who have initiated world-class subsea technology qualification activities nearby. Additionally, aerial drone operator KVS Technologies has set up its training and testing operations at TAC.
