智内威雄 Takeo Tchinai 左手のピアニスト チナイ タケオ

TCHINAI Takeo is the official platform of Japanese pianist Takeo Tchinai, known as a pianist of the left hand. His work centers on music composed for one hand, a repertoire shaped in part by pianists such as Paul Wittgenstein, who continued performing after losing the use of an arm during World War I. Tchinai seeks to rediscover works that have faded from view and bring them to new audiences through performance, education, and welfare initiatives.

A central part of this mission is the Left Hand Archive project, which promotes and revives music for one-hand performance. Its activities include concerts, recordings, and the publication and distribution of sheet music. The archive’s CD collection features composers including Scriabin, Brahms, Liszt, Bartók, Godowsky, and contemporary Japanese artists. The available scores range from accessible arrangements of familiar songs for beginners to advanced works written for the left hand. The site also shares concert listings, news, articles, and information about related events, including an international left-hand piano competition and a one-hand piano festival.
