Teampass is an open-source password manager that organizations and individuals install on infrastructure they control. Maintained since 2009 and made in France, it offers self-hosted deployment through Docker or bare metal, with no account requirement or feature-gated edition. Its credential vault uses authenticated AES-256-GCM encryption and provides folder- and role-based access controls, personal folders, and a record of access and changes.
For teams and small businesses, Teampass helps replace shared spreadsheets with managed credentials, browser autofill, and Secure Send links for sharing secrets with external recipients. Enterprise and regulated users can use access recertification, compliance reports, evidence exports, data classification, and integrations with LDAP, Active Directory, and OAuth2 single sign-on. Additional features include passkey storage and sign-in, security posture monitoring, a REST API, and import and export tools for common password managers.
Teampass also supports agentless Linux account password rotation over SSH, with policies and audit records. The project provides documentation, source code, community channels, and commercial support options.
