Te Aratu Trust

Te Aratu Trust is a Rotorua-based educational trust that supports people with disabilities, including those with mental health challenges. Guided by kaupapa Māori values and the holistic principles of Te Whare Tapa Whā, the trust takes a strength-based approach, recognising each person’s abilities, aspirations, and individual journey. Its purpose is to help tāngata whaiora build confidence, independence, wellbeing, and meaningful connections within their communities.

Te Aratu provides personalised support tailored to each person’s goals and needs. Services and programmes focus on developing life skills, setting and working toward personal goals, supporting community participation, and creating pathways to employment. Practical assistance can include gaining work experience and connecting with local opportunities, in a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment. The trust works alongside each individual to strengthen identity, realise potential, and participate more fully in community life.

Te Aratu welcomes enquiries and referrals from individuals, whānau, and organisations seeking support or information. It also provides resources such as programme timetables and guidance on transitioning from school.
