Teatteri Mukamas is a professional puppet theatre founded in 1979 and based in Tampere, Finland. Its performances create shared experiences for children and adults, combining imaginative storytelling, puppets, music and theatre for audiences of different ages. The theatre’s intimate home stage is in a historic volunteer fire brigade building in the Pispala district, and its programme includes both family productions and shows designed for the youngest children.
Examples range from the adventures of Hiirulainen and forest-themed stories to gentle performances for babies and toddlers, seasonal Christmas shows and concerts. Many productions are also available to book for audiences beyond the theatre’s own stage. Teatteri Mukamas tours throughout Finland, performing at day-care centres, schools, libraries, festivals and company events.
In addition to performances, it offers theatre-themed activities such as children’s theatre birthday parties, theatre camps, group singing and workshops. With its established local home and touring services, the theatre brings puppet theatre and live performance to families and communities in a variety of settings
