TEHDAS 108

TEHDAS 108, also known as 108 or Satakasi, is a Finnish creative and community initiative founded by Tehdassaaren Osuuskunta. For a decade, it developed a lively cultural hub in the historic industrial setting of Tehdassaari, Nokia, bringing together local people, creative professionals and organisations. Its mission is to support human well-being and help positive ideas circulate through creativity, collaboration and community.

At Tehdassaari, TEHDAS 108 offered distinctive spaces for celebrations, meetings, events, productions and exhibitions, with additional equipment and services arranged to suit customers’ needs. Its offerings also included the PikkuSalongi meeting space and a mobile sauna experience. Through 108 Kioski, it connected Pirkanmaa’s cultural organisations with audiences in Tampere’s Market Hall, presenting programmes and local design products.

The organisation’s work also explored the temporary use of vacant spaces and new forms of cooperation. Its guiding values included inspiring environments, ecological and social awareness, sustainable well-being, active citizenship and lifelong learning. TEHDAS 108’s original Tehdassaari operations ended in 2021; subsequent initiatives included cultural-space experiments in Nokia and Tampere.
