Tekapo Ski Club Incorporated is a community ski club based in Lake Tekapo, in New Zealand’s Mackenzie Basin. Formed in 1961, the club grew from an earlier initiative by local Young Farmers to assess snow conditions, access, safety and landholder cooperation when considering potential ski areas. The group ultimately selected Roundhill on Richmond Station.
The club welcomes people interested in skiing and snowboarding in the heart of the South Island. Its website provides information about membership, club history and nearby ski fields, including Roundhill, Mt Dobson, Ohau and Fox Peak.
A key offering is the club’s Lake Tekapo retreat, completed in November 2020. Designed with families in mind, the facility is wheelchair accessible and accommodates up to 24 people across two bunkrooms and two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The club also shares information about things to do in Tekapo and provides contact details for prospective members and visitors. Tekapo Ski Club is located at 73 D’Archiac Drive, Lake Tekapo.
