Telemedicus is a German information-law project that began around 2005 as an independent student group and developed into a platform connecting legal professionals, researchers, students, and interested non-lawyers. Its focus was law in the information society, including privacy and data protection, internet and media regulation, digital markets, and technology policy. Over the years, Telemedicus published a legal blog, maintained a case-law database and collections of current links, and shared regular news roundups and event listings.
It also organised the Telemedicus Summer Conference from 2014, bringing policymakers, academics, lawyers, and students together for discussion. The project offered contributors opportunities to explore information law and develop journalistic skills, while aiming for an open, accessible approach without rigid hierarchies. After nearly two decades, the blog became inactive and was converted into a static article archive in May 2025.
The nonprofit iRights now helps keep its articles available online. Telemedicus no longer publishes new content, but its archive preserves years of reporting, commentary, and resources on digital law
