Telfords Portlaoise is a reputable brand with a rich history dating back to 1885. Originally founded in Mountrath, Co. Laois, Telfords began as a general merchant store selling a wide range of products including farm supplies, hardware, grocery, and bakery items.

Over the years, the brand evolved and focused on hardware, building materials, and farm supplies to meet market demand. With the growing customer base, Telfords expanded and opened its second store in Portlaoise in 1990, followed by another shop in Athy in 1998. The company acquired its current site in Portlaoise in 1993, where it has experienced significant growth since then.

The establishment underwent a major overhaul in 2000, leading to the development of a trade center, DIY store, yard, and offices. In 2006, a new electrical superstore was completed. Telfords is proud to offer over 50,000 products across its stores.

Customers can find an extensive range of building materials, electrical supplies, paint, timber floors, bathroom equipment, gas fires, solid fuel stoves, garden furniture, household items, and everything a DIY enthusiast needs. Telfords strives to meet customer needs by sourcing and supplying any product they require. Though the Athy branch unfortunately closed in 2012 due to economic challenges, Telfords continues to be a leading provider of quality products and exceptional customer service at its Portlaoise location
