The Tender Loving Care Foundation

The Tender Loving Care Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by parents of graduates of neonatal intensive care units within the Northwell Health System. Its members advocate for families facing the uncertainty of having a newborn who needs critical care or a stay in a NICU. The foundation’s primary goal is to encourage NICUs to embrace family-centered care, supporting a brighter, less stressful beginning for families whose children need neonatal health services.

Northwell’s Neonatal-Perinatal Health Care Services cares for approximately 23,000 newborns each year across ten facilities. Some infants need specialized care for hours, while others may remain hospitalized for weeks or months. The foundation offers programs, events, educational resources, and opportunities for families to share their stories and connect as members. Its website also features blog articles about NICU experiences and neonatal care, and information about the annual TLC Foundation Lectureship. Donations support the organization’s mission and advocacy. Through these resources and community efforts, the foundation seeks to help parents and families feel supported while their newborns receive care.
