Tene Briut

Tene Briut is a nonprofit organization in Israel dedicated to promoting the health of the Ethiopian-origin community. Working with community members and health professionals of Ethiopian origin, it provides culturally appropriate information and support to help prevent, identify, and manage chronic diseases. The organization collaborates with health funds, welfare professionals, medical centers, community clinics, local organizations, and community leaders, with support from government partners, businesses, and private donors.

Its programs aim to bridge language and cultural gaps between patients and healthcare services. They include telephone interpretation and support in Amharic, medical and cultural mediation, community lectures, regional health events, and a health-focused radio program. Tene Briut also offers cooking and nutrition workshops, training for healthcare workers, and culturally adapted educational materials, including presentations, printed resources, and videos in Amharic. In addition, it participates in health research and information gathering and works to develop community health leadership. Through these services, the organization helps Ethiopian-Israelis access health information and navigate care while strengthening communication between communities and the healthcare system.
