Ternopediya is an open online encyclopedia devoted to the Ternopil region of Ukraine and its people, places, history, and cultural life. It presents organized information across a broad range of subjects, including history, geography, nature, economics, politics, education, science, religion, literature, art, and sport. Its articles cover notable residents and other people connected with the region, from nationally recognized figures to local contributors who may be overlooked by wider reference works.

The encyclopedia also documents natural and human-made landmarks, schools, institutions, organizations, businesses, cultural and infrastructure sites, works depicting the region, and events that have shaped its past and present. Ternopediya is intended for readers interested in local history and welcomes participation from people who care about the region. Articles identify their authors, and edits are made under contributors’ own names, with links to sources or original research.

The project favors classical Ukrainian orthography and the use of Ukrainian vocabulary where possible
