About Terra Fundación
Fundación Terra | Tegucigalpa is a reputable non-governmental organization that has been implementing impactful programs and projects in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua for over 24 years. Their mission is to improve the quality of life, socio-economic well-being, and the environment in communities through four key areas of action: quality education, social infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and the environment. One of their notable programs is the Pre-Basic Centers initiative, which aims to enhance the quality of early childhood education by providing comprehensive care and a nurturing environment for children in preschool.
With 42 centers and 839 beneficiaries, this program focuses on the holistic development of children, fostering their personal, physical, and cognitive growth. Another flagship program is the Tutorship Scholarship program, which promotes academic excellence and values in primary schools across Central America. Through academic tutoring, educational materials, and values training, high-achieving students from grades 5 to 9 share their knowledge with younger students, creating a positive impact in their communities.
Fundación Terra also places great emphasis on developing responsible and capable youth leaders through their Young Leaders in Service program. By providing training, technical skills, and opportunities for social and business internships, they empower young individuals to contribute to economic growth while giving back to their communities. Furthermore, Fundación Terra actively supports entrepreneurship education through their partnership with Teach a Man to Fish.
They integrate entrepreneurial education into the curriculum of schools participating in their Tutorship Scholarship program. This includes the implementation of the Entrepreneurial School competition, where students receive mentorship from professionals, guiding them in establishing and managing school enterprises. In addition to their educational programs, Fundación Terra addresses community development and environmental concerns.
They engage in infrastructure projects, such as building pre-school centers and schools, constructing sports fields, and improving sanitation facilities. They also promote environmental education through their Environmentally Friendly Schools initiative, teaching students about recycling and waste separation while generating income through waste collection. Overall, Fundación Terra | Tegucigalpa strives to create a positive and lasting impact on vulnerable sectors of society, focusing on education, socio-economic improvement, and environmental conservation.
Through their various programs and initiatives, they empower individuals and communities to thrive and contribute to a better future
