Terra Verde is a social cooperative enterprise in Chania, Greece, offering an alternative model of trade grounded in solidarity, equality, environmental care, and ethical production. Active since 2009, it operates two shops in central Chania, where selected food products are sold in partnership with fair-trade groups, agricultural and women’s cooperatives, social cooperatives, and individual producers and processors. Its range includes olive oil and honey, alongside other carefully selected goods that highlight the work and origins of producers.

Terra Verde also runs a café serving coffee from Zapatista communities and other beverages, as well as BOOK-άλικο, a bookshop and library featuring titles from small, cooperative publishers. The cooperative supports the inclusion of people with disabilities in employment, with staff working alongside specialist educators and volunteers. Beyond its shops, Terra Verde hosts educational, cultural, and social activities, including book presentations, discussion events, school visits, and peer-learning agriculture circles. Through its trade, workplace practices, and public events, it seeks to foster fairer working conditions, reduce environmental harm, and strengthen community connections.
