Welcome to Territorial Empathy, a design nonprofit collective that believes in the power of empathy to create positive change in our urban environments. Our mission is to mitigate urban conflict through interventions grounded in equity and empathy. Founded in 2018 by Zarith Pineda, an architectural and urban designer specializing in spatial justice, Territorial Empathy addresses the lack of intersectionality and representation in design teams and political operatives responsible for shaping the built environment.

As a Latinx-led organization, we are a rare but vital entity in the field of urban design, working to create a more equitable and just built environment. Our collective brings together urbanists, architects, and data scientists to address urban issues that impact marginalized communities, particularly women, children, and migrants. We define territories beyond physical spaces and borders, exploring networks, climates, data, and migrations.

From advocating for public school integration to transforming a former Department of Corrections bus into a community center and studying the relationship between drought and immigration, we tackle diverse conflicts worldwide.
