The Teruhime Festival, held annually since 1988 in Nerima Ward, is one of the district's two major festivities, taking place on the fourth Sunday of April. This vibrant event celebrates the legend of Teruhime, the daughter of Yasunori Toyoshima, the lord of Shakujii Castle, and offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history of the area. Combining cultural heritage with community engagement, the festival features a dramatic reenactment of the Toyoshima clan's struggles, performed by about 100 volunteers dressed in period attire.

The festival not only commemorates historical events surrounding the fall of Shakujii Castle but also aims to foster a sense of local pride and rejuvenate the community.
