About Texas College Steers
Texas College is a historically Black college in Tyler, Texas, founded in 1894 by the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church, now known as the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Its mission combines academic preparation with intellectual, spiritual, ethical, moral, and social development, encouraging lifelong learning, leadership, and service. The college offers 12 bachelor’s degree programs and two associate degree programs across four academic divisions: Business and Social Sciences, General Studies and Humanities, Education, and Natural and Computational Sciences.
