The Texas Lamb Breeders Association (TLBA) is a membership organization supporting junior market lamb exhibitors and breeders across Texas. Formed in 1998 after beginning as breeder discussions in the mid-1990s, it has grown to nearly 200 members. The association sponsors lamb shows, sales, and educational events, and provides opportunities for youth through scholarships and exhibitor recognition programs.
Through partnerships with the San Antonio Livestock Show and the Texas Lamb Validation Committee, TLBA awards four $2,000 scholarships and two $10,000 scholarships each year during the San Antonio Show’s Sheep Skill-A-Thon. It is also a major sponsor of the San Angelo Livestock Show and Rodeo, where it has paid close to $1 million to exhibitors of Texas-bred lambs. Its breeder recognition program supports exhibitors at other major Texas stock shows.
Members can order validation tags, access show results, and list their breeding programs in the association’s directory. The directory includes Southdowns, Finewool, Dorpers, Medium Wools, and Finewool Cross breeders.
