About Texas Psychological Association
The Texas Psychological Association (TPA) is a statewide professional association representing and supporting doctoral-level psychologists in Texas. It describes its role as defending, advancing, and celebrating the science and practice of psychology, with advocacy, professional development, connection, and practical resources at the center of its work.
TPA advocates for the profession by engaging with policymakers and helping members address issues such as licensure standards, reimbursement, scope of practice, prescription privileges legislation, and insurance parity. Its offerings include continuing education webinars, an annual conference, consultation forums, member communities, and resources for students and early-career professionals. The association also provides information about Texas licensure, regulation, and career opportunities, along with a psychologist directory that helps the public search for licensed providers by location, expertise, and accepted insurance.
Members can participate through committees, divisions, special interest groups, affiliate membership, and advocacy initiatives, including the TPA Political Action Committee. TPA also shares professional news through its Texas Psychologist eMagazine and maintains a calendar of meetings and events.
