Textiles LIVE

Textiles Live is a platform dedicated to sustainable, affordable luxury through artisan-designed handcraft, with a focus on traditional textiles and the people who make them. Founded by Judy Frater, the project draws on her decades of research into the textiles of Kutch, India, and her experience in anthropology, museum studies, and textile education. Its approach treats craft as both a source of beauty and a way to foster human connection, mindful living, and appreciation of artisans’ skills.

Textiles Live introduces visitors to makers and their techniques, including Ajrakh printing, Bandhani, batik, Rabari embroidery, Suf embroidery, and weaving. Its online shop offers handmade women’s and men’s clothing, accessories such as scarves and shawls, and home and bath décor. The site also shares articles and publications about textile traditions and artisan education, and organizes tours designed to help participants learn who made textiles and how they were created. Through these offerings, Textiles Live connects artisans, their work, and people seeking distinctive, thoughtfully made textiles.
