Thaely, based in Mumbai, is a brand that aims to address the global issue of plastic waste through their ethically produced sneakers. Founded by Ashay Bhave, Thaely's sneakers are made solely from recycled waste materials, specifically waste plastic bags. With an estimated 100 billion plastic bags used each year and causing significant environmental harm, Thaely seeks to find a sustainable solution to this problem.

Over a span of two years, from 2017-2018, Thaely developed and perfected their unique waste plastic bag fabric. To test its viability, a prototype was created in collaboration with a local shoe repair store in Mumbai, using existing patterns, lasts, and soles. The success of this prototype led to the presentation of Thaely's business plan at Amity University Dubai's 2019 Eureka startup pitch competition, where they secured first place and gained funding for further production.

Thaely's second prototype, inspired by classic basketball sneakers from the early 2000s, was developed in Dubai. Through testing and refinement, the final prototype became a production-ready sample.
