ThalFoundation - Working Towards a Thalassemia-Free Bangladesh Welcome to ThalFoundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of thalassemia in Bangladesh. Thalassemia is a hereditary blood disorder that causes severe anemia in children, requiring them to receive 1-2 bags of blood every month to survive. Unfortunately, thalassemia is prevalent in Bangladesh, with 7% of the population being carriers and 7000 new babies being born with the condition every year.

Our mission is to eradicate thalassemia from Bangladesh through raising awareness and conducting pre-marital screenings. Since our establishment in 2002, we have been working tirelessly to address the lack of awareness and treatment facilities. Thalassemia Foundation Hospital, our specialized 20-bed hospital located in Shantinagar, Dhaka, offers comprehensive treatment options including blood transfusions, specialist consultations, iron chelator medicines, and laboratory tests - all under one roof.
