The Aikido Center

Aikido Center Sacramento is a community dojo offering traditional Aikido instruction for young people and adults in a supportive, non-competitive, and non-violent environment. Its classes help students develop body, mind, and spirit through the study and practice of Aikido, a martial art centered on resolving conflict without aggression. Training introduces physical techniques for anticipating, entering, and guiding an attack toward a peaceful outcome.

While Aikido can support personal protection, the center presents this as a by-product of sustained practice rather than its primary goal. The dojo’s approach reflects the teachings of Aikido founder Ueshiba Morihei O Sensei, emphasizing the loving protection of all beings and a way of using power that does not diminish others. As students progress, practice becomes a means of deepening connections with themselves, their partners, and the wider natural world.

Alongside regular classes, the center offers events and seminars, including introductory opportunities for youth. Its mission is to serve the community by embodying Aikido’s principles of care, harmony, and life-supporting relationships
