The Artisan Archive is a cultural platform, brand, and impact lab founded by environmental storyteller Aditi Mayer. It documents, researches, and invests in place-based craft traditions, exploring how craft connects with climate and culture. The Archive aims to honor knowledge and practices that have been discredited, preserve living traditions, and present craft as a response to environmental challenges.
Its work includes editorial storytelling, social impact projects, and limited-edition collections. These collections are grounded in a connected process that begins with the Indigenous Cotton Revival, which returns desi kapas cotton to Punjab’s soil and supports the farmers who grow it. The Trinjan Weaving School develops the knowledge, tools, and community needed to turn the harvested fiber into yarn and cloth. The Salwar Project then examines how this cloth becomes a garment while keeping design connected to its material and cultural lineage.
Through its projects and resources, including the Materials Index, The Artisan Archive shares the people, processes, and materials behind its work.
