Launched in February 2021, we aim to provide our readers with interesting and nuanced journalism that sheds light on important issues within our state. Our dedicated team of journalists tells big stories, and we give them the necessary space and freedom to be ambitious in their work.

We want to surprise, inform, and leave you with a better understanding of North Carolina. To make our reporting accessible to all, we offer everyone the ability to read one article per month without a subscription. However, for just $5 a month (or $50 a year), you can gain full access to all the content on our site.

As a for-profit company, we are currently raising funds for our expansion.
