About The Ballot Book
The Ballot Book is a California political research platform that brings election results, campaign finance, voter information, and district profiles together in one place. It covers local and statewide races, candidates, elected officials, campaign committees, ballot measures, and more than 6,200 jurisdictions and districts across all 58 California counties. Its data includes election history dating from 2014, voter registration, turnout, demographics, political geography, and more than $34 billion in tracked campaign finance.
The platform offers precinct-level Election Reports, state and local campaign finance research, candidate and race profiles, and a Daily Report highlighting new filings and other campaign activity. Users can also explore political officials, compare places and districts, and review contributions, expenditures, late filings, and independent spending. Interactive tools include an Election Simulator for testing race scenarios using registration and turnout data, plus a Research Desk beta that accepts questions about California politics in plain English. The Ballot Book also provides a demo, pricing information, a data guide, and a blog with analysis and notes on elections and campaign finance.
