The Bentham Line is a 75-mile railway route connecting Leeds with Morecambe and Heysham Port via Skipton, Bentham and Lancaster. Managed and promoted by the Leeds-Morecambe Community Rail Partnership, it combines everyday rail travel with scenic journeys through the Aire, Ribble, Wenning and Lune valleys, past the Yorkshire Dales, Pennine peaks and Forest of Bowland, and towards Morecambe Bay. The line operates seven days a week throughout the year, with passenger information, seasonal timetables, ticket links, route maps and a guide to stations and places of interest.
A distinctive focus is making rail travel more welcoming for people living with dementia and other vulnerable passengers. The partnership also supports community rail projects, station activities, education and creative initiatives, including school resources and the Box on the Bay STEM classroom. Visitors can explore station histories, access information and video tours, while local news and events share the work of volunteers and community groups.
