The 20th Force Support Squadron (20th FSS) provides programs and services that support the physical, cultural, and social needs and overall well-being of military members and their families. Its mission is to help make Air Force bases feel like hometowns for a mobile military community. Based at Shaw, the organization brings together resources for military support, family life, recreation, dining, lodging, and everyday needs.

Military and family services include the Military & Family Readiness Center, Child Development Center, Family Child Care, Exceptional Family Member Program, youth programs, school liaison services, education resources, and career assistance. Recreation options range from fitness centers, sports, and intramural activities to golf, bowling, swimming, outdoor recreation, arts and crafts, and library programs. The squadron also operates dining venues, including the Carolina Skies Club & Conference Center and Cosmic Grill, along with lodging at Carolina Pines Inn, Falcon’s Nest Fam Camp, and Wateree Recreation Area. Additional offerings include Information, Tickets & Travel, a barber shop, car wash, volunteer opportunities, and community events.
