About The Big Issue Australia
The Big Issue is an Australian non-profit organization that provides opportunities to people experiencing disadvantage. They are dedicated to supporting and creating work opportunities for individuals who are homeless, marginalized, or facing challenges. The organization runs various social enterprises and programs to achieve this goal.
Their flagship program is The Big Issue Magazine, which has been sold by more than 7,500 vendors since 1996. The magazine generates income for vendors and has a readership of 287,000. It has been estimated that for every $1 invested in the enterprise, it generates a positive social return of $5.50.
The Big Issue also runs the Community Street Soccer Program, which has benefited more than 10,500 participants since 2007. This program helps improve the health and well-being of individuals through the power of sport. An independent study found that every $1 invested in the program generates a saving of $4.30 to the Australian community.
In addition to these initiatives, The Big Issue offers the Women's Workforce program and The Big Issue Classroom, which educate and empower women experiencing homelessness and young students, respectively.
By partnering with The Big Issue, corporations can make a direct impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness and marginalization. They offer a range of engaging and hands-on experiences for employees, while supporting those most vulnerable in the community. Partnering with The Big Issue provides branding and alignment with an innovative, progressive, and caring national organization.
